An Afghan For Each Season CAL

krazy-kitty

Recommended Posts

I made a 2 strand round ripple a while ago which I have on my bed, but it's really heavy and was thinking of making another afghan for the summer time.

Then I thought why not make an afghan for each season, anyone interested and want to join?

I have seen a few that I would like to make, I can post links to patterns in this thread and if anyone has any please feel free to post them and I can put them in here too.

There is no time limit and you can work on what ever ghan you want, would love to hear about your progress and see photo's as well.

Off topic conversations maybe disscussed in here too!

Iam going to start with my summer afghan as I already have the yarn, it's a pattern I have made up.

Anyone interested?

Well I have my yarn sorted out for my summer flower afghan, Iam using a combination of pinks, purples and blues with a white border. The yarn is manily Disney as I liked the colours, I have had the pattern in my head for about 18 months now and started to make test squares, but never got to finish them.

Just need to work out colour combination, then I can figure how Iam gonna lay them out.

For my spring ghan Iam planning to do the flowers in a row, 1st link under Sping, for winter I would like to do a snowflake ghan, not sure what I will do for autumn, have seen a halloween graphghan that I might do.

It would certainly be nice if I had afghans to coordinate with each season instead of just dragging out whichever ones are closest at hand. I actually thought when I read the original title that you were doing a CAL using the "Afghans for All Seasons" books!

I've got too much on my plate atm to join in I'm afraid. :( Good luck!

I would love to join! I've been wanting to do this for ages for my living room. I have three ghans for the couch but they are all heavy and in fall colors. Would love to have something to liven that room up in the spring and summer. I even made a list of ones I wanted to make last year and even started on a spring one but never finished it. I'll have to dig it out of the closet and hunt up the list I made before. Or maybe make a new list. :lol

I love the patterns you've picked. Can't wait to start.:yay

I think I might have to join this one! I've already got the ghans started (well most of them in WIPS) so why not join for some encouragement! I am working on this one: http://www.coatsandclark.com/cgi-bin/MsmGo.exe?grab_id=492&page_id=15075072&query=aran&hiword=ARANY+aran+

right now. Thought it would be springy but as heavy and thick as it will be, it will be more of a late winter, early spring blanket! :lol

I will definitely be doing the Flowers in a row ghan for spring! I love it! and for summer....well I'm in the phoenix area so unless a summer ghan is made out of cold water there is no need for a ghan! Maybe i will come up with a different summer pattern.....like a fan or something! :lol

I love the idea of this CAL but I just can't make the commitment at this point. :dreaming

I'll stop in to look a pics though.

I just got the book of 50 sensational afghans and they are another reason I would like in but I just cannot do any more or my wrists will go on permanent vacation. :sigh

I have already decided to do this on my own...great minds think alike? Well, I'm currently on a Halloween themed afghan kit that I purchased online from Herrschner's and I'm shortly going to begin a Valentine themed one from Red Heart dot com. Here's the link to the squares http://www.redheart.com/StitchToWin/tabid/204/Default.aspx I've already started a thread to see who wants to stitch this one with me. Here's the link to the thread http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92506

So, I'm already in?

:hi and :welcome to those of you that can join at this time, for those that can't feel free to jump in any time you can I have a feeling this CAL will be going for a long time:lol

Iam still working on my square, have frogged it a few times, happy with the way it's turning out so far, on round 7 and it's nearly 5", think I will make finished size 6" so now I need to work out the last couple of rows.

Off to do some more on my square, hope to get it finished and pattern written up by this evening, will try and take some pics and post later as well.

im interested in this it'll be cool

:hiand welcome, do you have a pattern in mind to do?

Iam making my own design up for my summer afghan and might even start my spring one as well, so I can switch between the two. Need to check my stash to see if I have enough yarn to do both.

OK, I finally found the original list I had made when I tried to do this before. Hopefully, I'll have more luck this time around since I'll have support. ;) I might change the list around some as I go, but for right now this is my plan. I don't have any patterns planned for fall since I already have a few for that season. Sorry there are no links, but they're all patterns from my collection of books. Hope that's OK.

Wow! you have loads to do, they all sound really pretty.

Iam still working on my square, have deceided that I like the 4 1/2" square better than the 61/2" one, as the flowers are closer together with the smaller one. Have also decedied to stick with just 2 main colours, 2 shades of pink and it was taking forever to work out colour combinations for the 8 colours I have chosen, I could always use them for the tulip throw.

I have had a look in my stash and have enough yarn to start the flowers in a row afghan. The summer throw is giving me a headache at the moment, gonna be using white as the main colour with mint green for the leaves, and two different coloured flowers in pink & purple. Will be using up my stash of DK baby yarn, so it will be really soft and cuddly.

Whats everyone else up to?

:bump What's everyone up to?

I'm in a quandary. I was going to do the "smart" thing and finish the UFO Pink and Orange Motif Afghan before I went out and bought more yarn to start a new one on my list. As tempting as that is, I really should use the yarn I already have first! :D

I found the pattern and hook I was using but I remember now why I had quit with it. The pattern has lots of open spaces, which I thought would work well for a spring 'ghan. But my 'ghan has a lot more "openness" than even the pattern picture. I think I might should have used a smaller hook? :think

Anyway I haven't decided whether I should just frog the whole thing and start over with a smaller hook or even a different pattern altogether. I'm only about 1/4 of the way through so it won't be that great of a loss. And if I don't like it already, there really is no point in finishing it.

I'm going to play with it some more when I get home from work tonight and try to decide what to do.

If you are not happy with it, just frog it and either start again with a smaller hook or a different pattern.

I find if I don't like how a pattern is going I hate working on it.

Iam trying to finish a gaint granny that my mum started years ago for her as she can't crochet or knitt any more due to arthritus, as well as trying to finish other projects and tidy up my craft room.

Later I will sort out my yarn, pattern and hook for the flowers in a row afghan, still not 100% decided what colours I will use, keep chaning my mind. Can't deceide between pastels or brights:lol

Yeah you're right, I'm going to really hate working on it as it is, so I'm going to frog it. :D I just hate all those hours of work are going to waste. ;) I'm thinking about doing a Mile-a-minute pattern instead. :think I'll post again when I decide.

Good luck on you're color decision!

I know what you mean about the hours of work, BF always coments when I frog something, he thinks it's a waste of time, but theres no piont carring on if your not happy with it.

Never tried mile a min patterns, but they look really pretty and simple enough to do.

Hope you find a pattern you are happy with.

I've never tried one either but my sis loves to do them, so I've been wanting to try one for some time now. I decided to go with the Make it Quick Afghan pattern from Crochet Pattern Central. (Sorry, I can't seem to make it link directly to the pattern for some reason :think) I've been working on it the last few days and the pattern is pretty simple and easy. And really fun to crochet! I'm already about half way done! :clap:clap

:scrachin I would like to join, but am not crazy about either of the autumn afghans. Fall is my FAVORITE TIME of the year. Can I still join???

Your more than welcome to join, you don't have to do the afghans in the link on the first page, they are just a few I picked out.

Chose any pattern you like and tell us what season you are doing it for.:hug

Hope to see some pics of your ghan as well.
