Tiny/small motifs CAL

Recommended Posts

I have two projects that are made with TONS of tiny motifs. :eek I want to do them for 2009 year. I well start Jan 1 getting yarn together and making motifs.

One well be my second project for me. It is Grandma's Garden Path in the book Crochet Afghan's that can be found here.

http://www.herrschners.com/products/product.aspx?sku=340196

Going to use scraps for this one so this is great for those of you doing the scrap-buster CAL.

I well need to make 767 tiny motifs for this one. They are 2 1/4 inch.

Also I am going to do Let Freedom Ring from Crochet for Caring and Sharing(sorry no link I got this one threw a ad in the mail.) for my nephew for Christmas 2009. I well need to make 347 tiny motifs. Motifs are the same size.

I also found several free patterns on the net. One that looks a lot like the Garden Afghan I hope to have done this year here.

The motifs are not as small and the afghan is smaller but some of you smart people could adjust how you want.

Then here are several afghans that you can do with small motifs.

I would love some people just to :cheer me on or to CAL with me.

I plan to add an album to my photobucket just for photos from this CAL and well add the link to this post so everyone can look at them in one place. Hope to get pictures of piles of motifs and then later done projects.

So what do you say got what it takes for something like this? :devil

This one sounds great. Not very good at keeping up though. Life gets in the way. But I started a Grandmothers flower garden ages ago and when I find it I'll get started again.

Same here. I have a scrap grannies daughter started. I plan to get my ufo's finished up this year so when I get to it I will join. I may make some other afghan and if any of them contain small parts I will come here also. I am awful at working on them and will need the engouragement. In the mean time I will keep an eye on this CAL.

Ok. Found the grandmothers flower garden and the pattern I was working from. So as soon as I finish the little flowers on my doily and last 15 rounds I will be here. I can probably count this doily as part of this crochet along anyway since it has 27 small flower motifs.

Sounds great Pauline.

I am so glad I am going to have some support while tring to take these two afghans on. Can't wait to see you all's work.

I have to get one skien of yarn for the Garden Path afghan and I only need 2 skeins of soft navy blue for the Let Freedom Ring afghan so that means I am ready to start both.

It is cold right now so well be working on my RR. However we got some 70 degree weather on the way for the end of this week so Ill start my tiny motifs then and this is going to be a great take along projects.

But I love the cold weather. So think Ill keep it as long as I can.

Turns out the two skeins of mainstay yarn you get at walmart that I had planed to use for the path on the Grandma's Garden Path afghan wont work cause the store I go to does not carry it anymore. I could go looking all over town for more but the cost of gas and the headaches it would cause makes it so not worth it. So I well need to buy 3 skeins of some sort of green for that part.

Thats ok got lots of scraps I can use up for the flowers.

Hi Angie,

We had our Christmas last night. Ate way too much food. Today we will packup the second lot of food I prepared and take down the Nursing home where my MIL lives. Have a Christmas lunch with her.

Got no crocheting down yesterday. Had good intentions but by last night I just crashed. Hopefully today on the journey there and back anyway.

Mind if I join in? I probably can't post a lot (I'm heading out of town tomorrow then when we get back I start teaching again) but am working on a project with motifs and would love the encouragement.

I'm attempting a free-form scarf/shawl (I'm not sure which) so I can use up my scrap yarn and branch out from my normal crochet projects. So far I have 3 triangles, a pentagon, crescent and heart... All my scraps are in a bag ready for travel, so I'm excited!:clap

I love the one's y'all are working on, the always look so pretty!

Angie, I'm thinking I'll join you on this one - I've inherited a baby afghan made with postage stamp size (it seems) little granny squares. I need to pull everything out of the bag figure out where the person was as far as # of motifs and everything and then hope that when I start crocheting we use a similar tension!! It will be a really cute afghan when finished and this will motivate and keep me accountable! It will also finish a WIP even though it was not mine to begin with!! :hook

Ok Had visitors today but I have finished 3.5 more little flowers on my doily. Only 3.5 more to go and I can start on some more for my Grandmothers Flower Garden.

I'll join in. I'm doing the Harlequin in the Herrschner's blue ribbon afghans Leisure Arts book. It calls for 956 2"X2" squares. I started this last year and then realized I needed to do other afghans for Christmas presents. So I'm in. Start number is 25 of 956. Whoohoo!
