green chicken hot pad

I was so excited to start these chicken hot pads but that worn off quickly, I don't find them that easy to crochet. I may crochet more ,then again I may not. The pattern is from Annie's Attic with RHSS yarn.

I am glad, well you know what I mean, that someone else found these not so easy to crochet. I thought the directions were poorly written. I was disappointed to say the least:(
