Blankets for Twins( help needed)

Recommended Posts

so i have been asked by my friend to make baby blankets for her twins ( fraternal boy and girl) her colors are mint, chocolate, and soft butter yellow.

I have found the mint and chocolate, but the yellow will have to be left out... Now the dilemma do I make identical blankets? same pattern, but vary on the color pattern? or 2 different blankets entirely? So some suggestions for blankets would also be appreciated. The only thing I don't want to do is motifs (i'm terrible at putting things together) I thought maybe giant granny squares, but looking for something with a bit flair i guess. So help please???? TIA

:::Edit:::: she is a little bit on the punk side. ( and pro model to boot :lol) i just feel lost as to what to make. grrrr

Oh Oh OH.....Kitties in a row, row, row....

you could do one with mint and chocolate, and the other with yellow and chocolate...maybe?? There is a pattern found on a crochet along here....If you don't want to do yellow and chocolate, you could do pink and chocolate for the girl, mint and chocolate for the boy....:hook

I thought maybe giant granny squares, but looking for something with a bit flair i guess.

You could pick another square instead of a granny like this Friendship square:

You could make the inside flower one color and then stripe the rest of between the two colors.

You then could either reverse it for the other blanket or pick another square and do the same thing.

Maybe one of these:

Congrats to your friend!! I am a mother of twins. I made their blankets when I was in the hospital. I used a mint green in both and did two diffrent blankets. Riley's is pink and green and Haley's is purple and green. I would make two diffrent blankets. :manyheart

I agree with 2 different blankets. I have twin sisters (they are 15 now) and they love having different things. They don't like it when people assume they should have the exact same thing as each other.

I'm a big fan of the Round Ripple. You could do rounds in different widths. One with the brown and mint and the other brown and yellow. It could work.

You could do the 9-point solid center RR here and just do reverse colors (start with green on one and brown on the other).

Good luck

As a mother of twins myself (identical boys) ..that is what I did for my boys. I made 2 rainbow ripples in reverse colors. You could add a girly edge to one since you are making these for boy/girl twins.

I would make two different ones. That's what I've done for the twins in my life. If however, you really do need to use the same pattern on both (time constraints or whatever) then I would definitely switch the colors, so they aren't identical blankets. Of the eight sets of twins in my life, I have yet to use the same pattern twice.

I made these blankets recently for a set of boy/girl twins. The light brown color keeps them related, but I used different patterns and (more traditional) colors to individualize them. (They are the same size, also.)

If you are using the same colors on both blankets, you could do two different patterns. That might make it more interesting for you too!
