Ladybug Plant Poke....Pattern added

This is my first written pattern and has not been tested.

Materials

C Hook

7 steel hook

Small amounts size 10 cotton thread Red & Black

Wiggle Eyes

Dowel rod----I used skewering sticks

Hot glue

Size Approx. 2"

Gauge is not important

Stitches used...sl st,sc.hdc,dc,tr

NOTE...I used 2 strands thread held together for head and body

BODY---make 1

Each rnd will end with a sl st to the 1st sc in that rnd

With 2 strands RED and size C hook

1) ch 2; 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook,join with sl st in 1st sc.

2) (2 sc in next st) ----12 sts

3) (sc in next st,2 sc in next st)---18 sts

4) ( sc in next 2 sts,2sc in next st)----24 sts

5) work even----24 sts FO

HEAD---make 1

With 2 strands BLACK and size C hook, join with sl st in sl st on last rnd of body

(ch 1,sc,hdc,dc,3 tr,dc,hdc,sc,sl st) all in same sl st FO

ANTENNAES

Cut a 6 in length of BLACK thread

Using size 7 hook

Fold length of thread in half and pull thru 2nd tr on head, yarn over and pull up loop

now using 1 strand of thread sl st in same space and ch 4 FO

REPEAT for second length of thread in same space.Trim thread ends to desired length.

SPOTS---make 4

with SINGLE strand of BLACK thread and size 7 hook

ch 2, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook join with sl st in 1st sc. FO

Glue wiggle eyes to head and spots on body

glue skewer stick to body

I've copied it and am going to make it. I love ladybugs and there are hundreds that find their way into my house every fall and overwinter somewhere in here. I'm making an afghan with roses and daisies on it so I think I will try and use the ladybug on it somehow too. I know I'm going to make a plant poke.

What an adorable pattern. I am going to stash a few of these in my plants and see if my granddaughter notices them.
