I have the magazine this is in, and it is cute. I've never made it, but have done eggs similar to these. I think I used this pattern as a base for some eggs for a bird I did (I was doing a family of birds).

Someone in the group I stitch with some weeks was knitting eggs in wool and felting them... these could be done the same. Hers started about the same size then she felted them in the sink by hand then stuffed them while damp.
