Tunisian dishcloths and double-thick hotpads

My sister just moved into a new apartment and doesn't have much in the way of kitchen things, so I've been trying my hand at some. Here's an easy Tunisian dishcloth (just chain desired length, work basic Tunisian stitch across till square, then finish with a round of single crochet). Good thing it's simple because I've been teaching myself Tunisian the last few days. I can't believe how easy it is!

I also found an awesome pattern for a double-thick hotpad that forms itself and only has to be sewn shut across the middle of one side. So fast and easy! Here's the pattern link: http://www.mielkesfarm.com/diagonal_hotpad.htm

The yarn is Sugar N' Cream 100% cotton.

The last one I made was a little weird--more diamond-y shaped than square. I don't know why. But I love the other two!

I think I may have figured out why. I think my tension might have been looser towards the end than at the beginning. I did this a long time ago and I just thought about that! I really should have thought about it sooner. :blush

Sandi,

I learned from some books I got from the library--they have whole books on Tunisian, or many other basic crochet books that have basic stitches will have beginning Tunisian. You can also search YouTube for Tunisian crochet videos, or check out sites like Kim Guzman's, who has a bunch of free online Tunisian classes:

http://www.crochetkim.com/afghanstitchclass.html

There's also a cool new website, The Crochet Classroom, that has sections on all sorts of techniques, including Tunisian:

Hope this helps!
