I'm wanting to make a light weight sweater really light since I live in texas. What's a nice thin soft yarn to use.I just bought 1 ball of divine:cloud9 but it's bulky weight. That's the kind of softness I'd like though.

I was looking for a yarn like this, too, to make a poncho out of...a friend of mine has an assortment of ponchos that she uses as coverups when she's nursing her daughter in public. And lv2crochet, I'm in Texas, too (Austin), so the lighter the yarn, the better!

Using a bulky or chunky yarn in a lacy, thin, and long pattern wouldn't be too warm for Texas weather. HollyM made me one similar in Patons Katrina (which is gorgeous, by the way :)h ) and I would wear it in the "winter" in Texas. :)) I'm a native Texan from the Houston area that's temporarily living in Las Vegas. In May, we're moving to Austin.

I can't remember the exact name of it, but I would think any kind of Alpaca yarn would be suitable. They have some at my LYS and it's just to die for! <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/cloud9.gif" />

Another vote for Katrina! I've used Katrina in a tank and absolutely love it.

While I've felt up quite a bit of Grace, I haven't used it... a person made a great offer and I couldn't help but trade away my Grace.

I'm kinda partial to Lustersheen and Microspun myself. I'm in the planning stages of a Lustersheen cardi for myself and still working on a Microspun dress or skirt...don't know yet :think

As for ponchos as nursing cover-ups, I've been using my light blue poncho for that very purpose! It's nice and lacy, so my daughter and I can see each other, but it covers enough so others can't see. (Plus, Sami doesn't get too hot under a lacy poncho and it stays in place!)

Definately Microspun....not only is it soft & thin, but it comes in all kinds of colors. Next would be Patons Grace or Brilliants (if you want a little sparkle in your item).
