Hi Everyone. I have just discovererd this board, and look forward to coming here frequently.

My name is Michelle, I am a 33 year old doctor living in England. I am currently 8 days overdue with my second baby, and have just taken up crochet, to keep me occupied.

I have been an avid knitter for the past 4 years, and have discovered that I enjoy crochet just as much, although I am obviously a complete beginner at the moment.

I have only complete one project so far ( a washcloth), but am enjoying trying out new stitch patterns, and have just started to crochet a throw from Erika Knights book Simple Crochet ( I hope the baby arrives before I finish it!). Any recommendations for any other good crochet books?

I have been surfing the net, looking at crochet blogs, free patterns etc - and it is ceratainly keeping my mind off waiting for the baby. I have found that I already have a lot of stuff I can use for crochet from my knitting (several crochet patterns in Knitting magazines, lots of cotton yarn, a few hooks (used previously for picking up stitches), knitting books with crochet instructions), so I have been going through my stash and large collection of books and magazine with new eyes!

Hi, Michelle! :welcome Glad you found us! :bigsmile Crochet is wonderful to keep occupied, and soothing too!

I'v heard Simple Crochet is a great book. Another book I can recommend is Donna Kooler's Encyclopedia of Crochet. Its filled with lots of good info, techniques, and sticthes and a few nice patterns, too.

Good luck with the delivery!

I am another Michelle, and all 3 of my babies were late (but only the first one was 2 full weeks after her due date, thank God)! I started crochet after baby #3 was born, because I needed more to do while on maternity leave, lol!

Anyways, we'll know where you are if we don't hear from you!<img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/cloud9.gif" />

Good luck!

Welcome! and congratulations on your baby! I hope you will let us know if its a boy or a girl! Crochet is a good way to pass the time, if you have time to pass! (I am writting this hen peck because my little sister is sitting on my lap. She wasn't to happy when she got up from her nap) Anyway, I hope you enjoy the board!
