What is this hook for?

My dm rest her soul gave me this hook yrs. ago, I have no idea what it is for, but it feel kind of sharp. Here is a pic, any ideas anyone?

The end is very similar to the hooks that are used with knitting boards and looms. I have several sets, and the ends are almost exactly the same.

I know what it is!! It's a hook for buttoning the high top shoes the ladies used to wear!! It's probably a Victorian antique! What a great gift your mother gave you!

apparently she didn't spin?

 

I use a similar tool to pull my leader through the eye,

to begin spinning.
