toilet seat cover

I've been trying to make one of these just about for ever... and never could get one to fit right. This time I had elastic and was prepared. Ha. It didn't need the elastic, it fits all by itself!

It's RedHeart knitting worsted in "Watercolor" which goes with my bathroom stuff pretty well.

Double crochet, half-double and single. Size H hook.

I made up the pattern as I went. I've tried and tried to make one of these, tried circles (wrong shape), tried oval (that's *hard* and didn't work right), tried plain dc and it was just huge, but this time it worked.

The trick was to make the edges of each row, where it curls under the lid, *smaller* than the body of the work.. and the only way I saw to do that was to make them in hdc and sc rather than the dc of the main body. There were increases and decreases as needed for the oval-ish shape, and those marked the top edge of the piece.

I think I tried it on the lid some hundred times while I was making it! Never did get the yarn into the toilet though it came awfully close a few times! ;)
