The crocheting is pretty simple and straightforward, although when you realize the panels are 4"x4", I think the thread must be pretty fine thread.

 

The link is to a fancy gift shop in San Francisco, and the *artist* is named and located in NY. These high-end gift-shop prices are not what the crochet-artist received for her work, but still--she found an outlet for her work and is at least getting more than the 1.97 that I've seen doilies for at Walmart.

 

If your area is touristy, and there are independent gift shops there, you might find someone willing to buy your things ("hand-crafted by a local fiber artisan") or at least sell them on consignment.

 

I thought it was pretty cool, and may mount some things that way myself. I've got some bare walls...

That's a great idea for displaying doilies without the cost of framing. I wonder through what method she attached the doily to the fabric.

That's cool, I was actually thinking of doing something like that myself! I have a new office that needs some pictures, I thought also of using my swatches, matting them with white mats and hanging in black frames. When I do one I'll post a pic!
