Samantha - all those leaves, my goodness! I can't wait to see it when you are done! If I had my book I'd be able to check out what your doing already!

I've just spend a little time trying to sort my haul from Ebay, my goodness, I have more than one person could ever make already, and more still coming! (Yippeeee!!!!)

So how many times do you frog while making a doily?

It's rare if I don't frog at least once because I missed a stitch somewhere. If I am double checking my work as I go along I usually don't have to frog back too far.

Last night was the worst! I was just getting a recent frog corrected and noticed a mistake several rows back :eek So I went from row 25 something back to row 15. :P

I will persevere. :hook

Any doilies on your hook right now? The one I am working on is Exclusive by Mary Werst.

I was just wondering if nay of you have seen or tried this doily:

It is beautiful but I can't quite figure out what she means to do with the Rdc (reverse double crochet) If you've done it could you explain it (in words of one syllable obviously :D:hook )

I'm not familiar with that doily.

The directions say the following:

Rdc: Yo, insert hook in next sp to the right, complete as a dc.

So instead of going to the left you will move to the right/backwards.

Yea, what the person ahead of me said. You insert your hook in the row beneat to the right, instead of left. Here's a video in which it appears she does an extra chain stitch first, although it isn't mentioned in the instructions, so I guess it is the chain one to turn the row, which is weird because she is already going backward. They should have mentioned it:

If you click on this link, it will take you to their library of stitches :)

I tried to do that as you would a Rsc and it went nowhere. I also tried a way so that I could get the dc made but it was basically just an awkward way to work a usual dc. I'll keep trying I guess.

I am actuall quite good at making the Crab stitch-> reverse SC.

It is this reverse Double Crochet that I find challenging. I kept practicing and it is very ugly and bulky. the Crab stitch is a much nicer stitch for my money. Thanks for trying though. We do help each other where we can. :)

How are your doilies going?

I've bailed on the irish crochet doily for now. I was feeling frustrated with the joining so I need to get more clear how to do that. So I'm making Exquisite from Extra-Special Doilies instead for my MIL.

I plan to get back to the irish doily after the holidays when the time pressure is off.
