Blue Striped Poncho

Hey gang,

 

I have finally finished my daughters blue striped poncho that I made to match her gypsy skirt and belt I made for her. She loves it and that is what matters most.

 

It took me a whole week to finish the poncho, it was an easy pattern that I found online, but I am slow at crocheting and was only able to work on it for an hour or so each night. Here is photo of just the poncho.

I had to get creative and crochet in beads on the white striped area. This was a pattern that you can find online at http://www.medidit.com/free/apon.html

I varied the pattern a little bit by using 5 rows of each color instead of the 7 that the designer used, and did not make it as long either since it was for my daughter who is 9. The scalloped trim I added to dress it up a little. The edgind is online at http://crochet.about.com/library/blnarrowedging.htm The only think I did different was that I did not start with a chain, I used the last row of crochet on the poncho as my chain.

Wow that turned out well. The beads are a clever touch and your daughter looks so pretty in the blue colour. You must both be very proud of her outfit.
