Favorite Squares

Since so much of our crocheting for charity is done by making squares, I thought we should post our favorite square patterns. My favorite squares are:

12" Butterfly Garden byChris Simon. Chris has many, many lovely patterns.

12" Pineapple Granny Pillow-ghan square by Priscilla Hewitt; I do the last round a little differently for comfortghans.

12" Victorian Dream by Cindy Arman

8" Circle of Friends by Priscilla Hewitt. This is more work than most squares I do, but it is so lovely!

6" Cross -Linked Square (could be made any size) -- very simple

I love the Victorian Dream, also, and did one of those for the Crochet Dude (there's actually a picture of it posted on his blog, I did the center in a taupe, the outer part in a light brown). I printed out the Pineapple one and haven't made it yet, but plan to in my next batch I made for him.

On his blog, there's also a picture of the square I made using the Supernova pattern:

This is also a Chris Simon design. It's kind of wavy, but when added to a ghan, should look fantastic. I'm going to make another one, using SS (I used RH).

(The Crochet Dude's blog is at http://thecrochetdude.blogspot.com, is great reading, even though I'm a lurker, although I suppose I'm now out of the closet on that one, and the photo in question can be seen on the 2/14 entry - also on the top row, the 1st and 3rd squares were mine, more traditional, one taken from the 63 Squares book, the other from the 63 More squares book, and extended to get to 12 inches).

I've really been enjoying making the squares and sending them off to others to out together! Plus, with squares, I get to experiment with new stitches/patterns, and that's always fun.

Oh, I also made the Spring Breeze square from Priscilla's Crochet, and I absolutely love it:

Thanks, Quiltymare.

Renegade, nice work! I've made Spring Breeze before. It has a touch of elegance. I haven't tried Supernova yet. I want to try most of Chris's patterns. She is great.

Thanks for posting all these great sites for patterns. I've just recently done my first granny squares (after 30 years of crocheting.....laughing...) and find I am "hooked". They are so quick and compact. I have tried a couple of the ones posted on Drew's HMB site request (sent them to him). You guys really have helped me so much.
