granddaughter socks from Interweave Crochet

These are the Granddaughter Socks from the online version of Interweave Crochet. You crochet three granny squares, connect them into a tube, then pick up and knit the foot (per sock). I went back and added some crochet trim at the top (hm it appears to be in the pattern too but I stopped following the pattern, heh).

I used one variegated yarn for the granny squares instead of changing yarns every round and I used another yarn for the foot (obviously).

This is Artyarns Supermerino (100% superwash merino). I worked the granny squares on a D (3.25mm) crochet hook and I worked the foot on US3 double pointed needles to get a solid gauge.

It was fun to combine crochet + knitting! I wish I had come up with this type of a pattern! :)

I love those! I never would have thought to mix knitting and crocheting, either. I guess it can be done, though!! (I couldn't find a 'duh!' smiley right there...) :lol
