Mark Center

fc1123

Question

Ok I am still working on my sweater coat and I am having a hard time figuring out the next part here goes:

Shape Armholes: Keeping continuity of pat, sl st in

first 5 (7, 7) hdc, ch 2, work in pat to last 4 (6, 6) sts;

turn, leaving remaining 4 (6, 6) sts unworked – 52

(56, 60) sts. Work even until armhole measures 9 (9,

10)", end wrong side row. Fasten off. Mark center 24

(28, 32) sts for back neck.

RIGHT FRONT: Ch 31 (35, 37). Work in pat same as

Back over 30 (34, 36) sts until 16 (17, 17)" from beg,

end wrong side row.

Shape Armhole: Ch 2, work in pat to last 4 (6, 6)

the problem that I am having is what does the mark center 24 sts for back and what do they mean the right front.

this pattern is found on http://www.coatsandclark.com

It wants you to mark those certain places to refer back to later. Later on in the pattern, it has you start crocheting the neck in those 24 marked stitches (I'm assuming). I would mark the first of those 24 stitches and the last, not all 24.

Right front means it's the ride side of the front of the coat.

now for the right front do I attach the yarn to the 24 stitches and start chaining from there?

Nope, the marked stitches are for the neck. What's the name of the pattern so I can pull it up on Coats & Clark? Or do you have a direct link?

The right front is a different section. You will chain 31 like you're starting a brand new project. it will likely be sewn together later.

I would simply make the exact same thing as the right front, and flip it over for the left front.

On the right front, the first line of the armhole shaping says to work to last x stitches, turn, so x stitches remain unworked on that side.

On the left front, the amhole (unworked stitches) should be at the beginning of the row, not the end of the row. So you would slip stitch over x stitches, and continue the pattern to the end.

Same for the shoulder shaping. To help you visualize it, the right and left fronts should be mirror images of each other, otherwise one would have the necline on your shoulder and the armhole in the middle of your chest!

Hello:

I am looking for this pattern--no longer on Coats and Clarks--does anyone have a copy they could e-mail to me?

We can't send patterns to each other, it violates the rules of this forum (and US copyright law).  The forum owners could get into legal trouble if we did.

Most of the C&C patterns moved to RedHeart.com. Unfortunately I'm not finding a pattern called 'crochet belted jacket' there, however, and not finding anything for the pattern number LM0271.

Snowbrocade;

You might consider writing to the company. I've had productive responses from some yarn/thread companies searching for older patterns. And, if you post this in the Seeking Patterns folder, maybe someone has a better reference on how to obtain the pattern.
