Scarf/shawl made from doilies

I have only made one doily and that was a challenge. Is there a pattern that takes doilies of different sizes and sews them together to make a shawl. Wouldn't that to be so cool! When I go to the thrift store and see all the doilies I always think of that idea...........

It does sound cool -- hope you make one so we can all see your idea come to life! I have seen old jean jackets embellished with vintage doilies, ribbons, trinkets, buttons and the like. I have always thought about making one myself. But I LOVE the idea of your shawl so much better! You could go with sort of a free form idea in chunky or heavy weight yarn in darker or brighter colors and then piece in doilies in vintage white/off white. I am seeing a beautiful project! Hope you do make one!

I love it. I often wish I could do something with the doilies I have from my great grandmother other then keep them in a box so my children/pets won't destroy them.

had seen this before, but in looking at it again just now I recognized a doily I just made 2 of for a wedding present!! (the pic where she's holding her shoes, the doily with the hearts & pineapples to the right of the shoes)

OMG that dress is beautiful! BTW, I just checked out your doily album! They brought tears to my eyes they are so pretty! I love doilies. I've attempted a few small ones, but only one larger one and that was for a gift. It came out ok, but, boy am I a novice!

I love the new altered-clothing trend and always have fun poring over the books on that craft, though I haven't tried anything yet. Here's an etsy seller who has some beautiful clothing items made from doilies:
