Durango + Robins Egg Blue Hat pattern

I absolutely love this hat!!! Mine turned out kind of swirly as far as the fpdc goes. And I used an I hook...I would suggest going with a smaller hook. My hat turned out pretty roomy, but it is perfect for my thick curly hair.

I know that this post is forever old, but I just finished mine today and went looking for other comments on it. Mine turned out swirly as well, but I think I figured that out. The pattern says to crochet into the next stitch after the chain 2 when completing a round and then when joining rounds to crochet into the top of the chain2. This creates an offset so that each fpdc gets set to where the next stitch would be. If you want to straighten it (I like it swirly), you could play with either changing the join or crocheting into the same stitch as the chain 2 instead of the next stitch.
