Sister goes in this Friday for surgery and well start kemo soon after.

I have 10 squares so far.

I do have a couple questions about weaving in short ends on a couple that I got. I tend to leave about 5 to 6 inches of yarn and weave it all in. I have a couple that only have about 3 inches. Well this stay in when I weave it in? Or is there a way to help make sure it does? Like maybe tie on more yarn before I weave it?

Thank you everyone again that sent squares.

Ill update after we know more on Friday.

She has uterine cancer.

She is going to have more test including an MRI and the surgery is set up for July 17th. She well need to take kemo as an out patient also. They well know more when they do the surgery.

Still need lots of squares. Would love to have this done by the time she goes in for surgery.

I had uterine cancer 2 years ago. Surgery was the cure for me and I hope and pray that when they do your sisters surgery that they will find that the cancer isn't as far along as they thought.

If you or your sister are into online support groups, I'd like to recommend two.. one is called Hystersisters (http://www.hystersisters.org) and the other is http://www.eyesontheprize.org (eyes on the prize also has a yahoogroup mailing list).

If either of you should go to either of these sites.. please keep in mind that those with problems and worries are the ones that post the most. Don't let the negative things you will read scare you too much. I found the sites to be very helpful to me because I was in denial about the situation and didn't really think I had cancer. But after reading some of the other womens stories, I decided to go ahead and have the surgery..and it was a good thing.. as my precancer turned out to be cancer.

I don't know what kind of surgery your sister is going to have (regular abdominal, laprascopic or robotic), but she is very wise to be seeing a gyn/oncologist. The success rates are so much higher when you have a specialist involved.

I don't know if you still want squares at this late date, but I could do some if you're still in need.

And if you or your sister want to talk about endometrial (aka uterine) cancer and obesity or just anything.. I'm only an email away. This is absolutely the most trying time.. waiting for the surgery and then the pathology reports.

Lots of hugs,

I can use more squares for sure.

The doctor hopes to do robotic, I think, lol he wants to make five small cuts and well be at a computer that well remover everything. But if it is bigger then what he expects then he well have to do it the old fashion way.

PM me your address, I'll try to get some made today. I think I have some simply soft (the old kind) in purple.. would that be OK?

I had the robotic surgery.. the recovery is so much easier. I had 6 small wounds.. more than usual because they had some difficulty inflating my abdomen and my doctor was determined to get the robotic done.

It's good that he's telling you all the possibilities if things aren't as expected.. but I bet it will turn out fine.

I prepared for abdominal surgery (getting meals made ahead of time, buying a grabber so I wouldn't have to bend over, having loose clothes prepared) and hoped success with the robotic. I had surgery about noon on a Thursday and was out of the hospital by 6pm on Friday. We spent the night in a hotel and then dh drove me home (3 hour drive) the next day.

Ok.. I'm off to find the yarn and a pattern. 12" right?

Sorry to hear about your sister. My own just went thru the same thing. It's taken about a year and a half and at her 3 month checkup she is cancer free. She had both surgery and chemo. And she managed to hold her fulltime job thru the whole thing. :eek She's a lot toughter than I am.

I have 6 twelve inch squares you can have if you can use them. They are all RH Super Saver. Three are Aran, one is Soft White, one is White, these are all one color. The other on is called the Octagon Medalion Square and is a mix of white, artist paint, violet and dark salmon.

You can have one or all if you think you can use them. I'll send them to you. If you get them and find you can't use one or all, just pass them on to someone else. :hug

No problem. I did a bunch of squares in SS to try out different patterns. I like doing squares in the summer. It's too hot here to sit with a blanket on your lap. :D

She is doing pretty good. Still can't sleep in her water bed. But is doing well and getting around the house. She says she has more energy then she has had in over a year.

However the cancer was larger then the doctor expected and now he is saying kemo and radiation. Well know for sure in two weeks.

Yeah.. glad to hear. :) Give your sister a gentle hug for me.

I know your goal was to get the blanket done before surgery, but actually having it ready for when she goes for chemo or rads will probably be more helpful.

She will love it no matter when it is completed.

I am 'smith'. I'm happy to see they made it to you. It was my first time using that yarn and none of my patterns worked out. I hope the plain ones work well, maybe tuck them in the side where nobody sees.

The plain one are some of my fave. Simple and clean.

I received two more pretty white squares today from Ms Eaton. Thank you so much.

I am pretty sure I have enough. I want to make two myself and with the ones I have that makes 20.

Im off to work on them now. Ill post a picture as I start getting it together.
