I'm not sure what I'm looking for...

Recommended Posts

I would like to make a WARM blanket for a friend of mine for next Christmas, in Red and White. I've been looking for a self striping yarn that's just those two colors, but having no luck.

Does anyone know of a current yarn that is just red and white, DK weight or heavier? Or should I just go with my gut and use regular WW yarn and make my own 'striping' yarn by cutting and tying lengths together?

If you want a lovely warm blanket, use two or more strands and a large hook. You can use multiple strands of the same color and stripe it yourself, or change to the other color at random on some or all of the strands. That will make a one of a kind present for your friend that they will cherish.

I am going to be a little different here.

You could use Peaches and Cream or Sugar and Cream. Both I have seen in red and white. varigated.:hook

It is soft, warm and works up great. They both have patterns on their sites for afghans.
