What's your favorite hat pattern?

Recommended Posts

With so many styles in vogue today, what is your favorite hat pattern? You know the one.........it's the pattern you come back to again and again....it always turns out just right, no matter what yarn you use. Every time you wear it, people stop you and ask,"where did you get that fabulous hat?" I'd love to hear from all you hat-loving 'villers!

Thanks bunches,

I have several. One for style and one for warmth. The one that I like the best on me is the child's roll brim hat. I add a few rounds and stitches and it fits me. It's not very warm but then I don't need warm yet. The one from Lion Brand is WARM. It messes up my hair but it's a sacrifice I have to make to be warm. :P The one I like best for my son comes from a book of childrens hat patterns. I don't remember the name but my MIL gave it to me and I think it's by Leisure Arts and out of print.

This one (scroll down on the description, in the last picture, the off-white toboggan on the right):

VERY easy to make, holds up well.

I'm partial to beanie-style and newsboy caps - love the brims. Here are two patterns I return to time and time again. Works everytime with worsted weight yarn and the beanies make great chemo caps, especially in dark colours for men.

Although both patterns are advertised as "men's hats", in more feminine colours they look great on women and children also. :manyheart

Do we have to have a favorite? lol I just started making hats for the first time last month! And I've crocheted for over 30 years. I love trying new hat patterns. I have found one I like that is made all in one piece in a popcorn stitch lengthwise instead of widthwise. It's very interesting, I found it on the internet and just think it is the neatest thing. I've made my 2 yr old DGS one, my 6 yr old DGS and my DD one by this design.

oh the brim one is so cute!

i don't have money, or i would buy the pattern... how would i go about making a little brim like that? the method i've been using is make a big rectangle in front out of single crochet and then curling the ends and sewing it back :/
