It's not a book, but definitely check youtube. I've found some great demo videos that have helped me learn some new stitches.

It is so easy. I was always afrid to try it because it looks so delicate but it is really simple to do. Once you try it you will be hooked. I am.

And if you want to try your hand at it and practice more, we're having a filet swap for the first time this summer. You'll have been a villager long enough (don't forget you also have to have a minimum number of posts plus the 30 day membership) that you'll be able to access the swap board by then. I hope you consider it. We'd love to have a wide range of filet enthusiasts participate so we can share ideas, tips, etc.

 

I always thought it was scary, but plunged right in by making my sisters filet Christmas tree skirts. They came out beautiful even for a novice like me!

You can try my Filet Prayer Cloth. It makes a great 1st project. It's 4 inches square and you'll have the hang of the stitches by the time you're finished.
