My Mum had this done in RED when her bedroom was decorated this way.

 

I have not long ago inherited this pattern from an elderly couple in the next block. The lady has been cleaning up a lot of things that her husbands first wife had and she knew that I crocheted. She also gave me a few souvenirs of the Queen of England when she visited Australia in the 1950's.

It's things like this that make me wish I could work with thread. I just feel so clumsy with the thread and that little steel hook. I do have immense admiration for those who can work with thread and make such beautiful creations!
