Tips to get people to leave comments

I can't seem to get people to leave comments on my blog. I have people from all different sites checking it out then they'll post a message on that site and not on the blog. Ack.

Is it because mine are just more show & tell and not really examples/instructions?

Any suggestions would be great!

Part of it could be that yours is not being used as a blog, but as a blot/sales

tool for your Avon business. Combining your advertising with your blog

can be a turn off.

What kind of comments are you looking for? Most people won't take the

time to say "Those are really cute" or such comments. You need something to engage the reader -- maybe ask would these be better in blue or in red,

or offer material other than just a look-see.

If you are getting good traffric but no comments, then just give them something to comment about.

I just posted a couple of comments for you! Maybe that will get people started. BTW, is there anyway to comment without having to do the whole word verification thing? That might be discouraging folks from leaving a quick comment. Is that required on all blogs? (I've read quite a few but this is the first time I've taken the time to comment!) I admit I just skipped the Avon stuff as I was only interested in the crocheting...

Don't feel bad people don't always leave comments on my blog. Actually think about it how many times have you commented on others blogs? Some blogs are structured for reading, not necessarily structured for comments. kwim

Another way is to visit other blogs and comment on theres. A lot of bloggers will go to the blog of those who commented and comment on theirs, just to say "thank you for commenting on my blog", but it's soemthing if you want something:lol.

Asking questions or opinions also help.

Reply back in the comments. Sometimes this can get a "conversation" going and more comments.

I don't comment on ones that I can't, if it's a special blog or requires a special log in, I don't. I didn't even do the coke rewards thing because I was too lazy to get another login and password:lol.

Reply to people who have commented, go to their blog and comment.

Not sure what else.

Maybe think what makes you comment on a blog and not just look?

Good luck.

I know with blogger you can turn them on or off. I had them off on mine for a while, but all I was getting were stupid spam junk comments directing people to bogus/ad/viagra web sites. That's why lots of people turn them on....

I have no idea who all reads my blog, I haven't looked into any tracking tools. I've got a friend or two I know IRL who'll comment, but only ever had a few others. Comment on other people's blogs. Create posts that request feedback from readers... Me, I mostly do the blog to have somewhere to keep my thoughts and keep friends and family informed of what's going on. I'd love more comments, but accept that I'll never be a widely known blog. I'm fine with that.

sometimes i swear i can hear echos in mine ...... Jimbo bo bo bo where ar ar ar you o o o ? ? ?

I think its partly, for me anyways, not posting enough. Plus I need to post absolutely riviting, interesting, and thought provoking stuff. Tough when you're rivets are loose, you're dull and can't put two thoughts together and hold onto em long enough to hurry to the keyboard and get them in the blog.

now what was that i was saying???

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I don't expect people to leave comments about the Avon or even to want to read it. But I started this blog as a way to keep my family updated on things here since they live so far away (which is why there are posts about my daughter and things too) and they do order the Avon so they want it on there. But I can see it being annoying for those that don't want Avon. Good point. I'll talk to them about it.

That could be my problem since its not strictly for crochet.

Yea! You mean you have to do it too?!? But it's *your* blog!! My niece has a blog that pops up a password box of some kind that's *really* annoying. Thankfully you don't have to use it to read the blog. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings about the Avon stuff :-( I'm just not into it. I like your blog!

I completely understand. I think from now on I will not put it on there. It might be easier for them but I don't like it on there either. I'm always getting sucked into things I "have" to do.

You didn't hurt my feelings at all. I'm thinking about deleting the ones that are already there too. I don't like them either.
