Seraphina question

Recommended Posts

To those who have made a Seraphina shawl I have a couple quick questions. I have decided that I MUST make myself one of these. It has been on my WIM list for awhile. What type of yarn has everyone used?? How much?? Whay size hook?? The pattern isn't too clear about all of that :think Thanks so much for the help!

I used Yarn Bee's Icelandic Jewels on mine with a size K hook. Hook size is dependant upon what yarn you use and the yarn you choose is up to you.

I've used Lionbrand homespun and vanna's fav to make them. The homespun took about 4 skeins, the Vanna's I think took at least 6 and could've used 7 to fringe it.

I too use Rainbow Boucle as recommended by Sportsbear and some others - reason - no loose ends and I can make an entire shawl that looks striped from the one tonal shaded yarn skein.

The only drawback I have is that the Boucle Skeins that are the Rainbow Boucle are not pull skeins so you have to take from the outside of the skein and the football shaped skein flops around either in the basket I use or my bag.

Other than that they come out nicely and the price is right - with a JoAnn's 50% coupon you can get it sometimes for about 4 or 5 bucks - that is pretty darn reasonable when you get a whole shawl from one!:clap

Here are a couple of pics and the link for the JoAnn's online store where you can see the yarn and the colors - you have to be careful as there are different variations like "Classic Boucle" and other names but this one I have linked is the tonal boucle yarn that is not "fuzzy" but is bumpy and light -

I would be happy to help you out with any questions as I had Sportsbear coach me so graciously and would be glad to pass on my little bit of knowledge on making them! PMing me would be a good way if you need to!
