Twas the Night before IC Day (International Crochet Day)

Twas the Night before IC Day,

and all through the house

Not a J hook was stirring

not to mention the spouse

 

All the skeins were tucked in their stashes with care

In hopes that the Nekkid Sheep soon would be there.

And I with my project,

And dh in his slumber

Had just settled down,

I thought, "What was that number?"

 

When just before dawn

I smelled something funny,

I looked out the window--

There were three alpacas and a bunny!

i've been rackin' my brain all day and I'm just braindead with trying to come up with a verse.

In my excitement I got up in a flash,

tripped over my project,

landing into my stash.

 

Hubby heard the clamour,

and sat up with a yawn.

"What time is it?" he asked.

"It's just before dawn."

 

He looked at me and grinned,

with my feet in the air,

"International Crochet Day?"

I nodded in despair.

 

He helped me untangle,

with my project a mess.

I went to my closet

To put on a dress.

 

I rushed down the stairs

and what do I find?

Alpaca and angora hairballs--

One of each kind!

I looked out my door and what did I see!

But a man dressed in brown, in awe I confess

He carried boxes and boxes, all labeled to me

With a smile in his eyes, said the man from UPS

With a glance at the boxes

And a laugh at my stash

He eyed the wip afghan and sockes

Then said with a wink, I must dash!

Worsted weight, baby weight,

rug yarn and wool-ease,

homespun and sport weight,

... signature please.

For my work here is done

But there are others with hooks

Who shall share in the fun

When they get their own yarns and books!

I've gotta run ~

with all this mohair

I'm having such fun.

To the street corner I ran for the bus I must catch

With a project in tow, a rug I'm to latch

As I boarded the transport to far away lands

I saw the bus filled with others, yarn in their hands
