I keep seeing these terms, but do not know what they mean.

I have learned many new abbreviations and terms from different forums, but I keep seeing "ISO" and "ROAKED" and do not know what they mean. Please enlightem me.

ISO means "In Search of". The term is used when someone is looking for a specific item.

 

RAOK stands for "Random Acts of Kindness". There's a whole thread about people doing RAOK's for other members. It can be a gift sent to someone to make them smile. Or Doing something that takes just a little bit of your time and makes someone feel better.

 

I try to Raok every day. I baked the lifeguards at the beach a batch of cookies today.

 

It just makes the world a little brighter.

DH is for Dear or Darling Husband or if he's been a little rotten Darn Husband

 

DS Dear Son or Darling Son or just like the one above Darn Son

 

DD Dear Daughter or Darling Daughter or Darn Daughter

 

DW Dear Wife or Darling Wife or Darn Wife

MIL is Mother-in-Law

FIL is Father-in-Law

SIL is sister " "

BIL is brother " "

 

... I think I saw a post on this somewhere, but I haven't taken the time to search for it....

There's probably a good 'dictionary' on the net somewhere....

I think many of the acronyms can be easily translated when reading the sentence they're in. But DH, DS, DD, etc really made me crazy as I don't call anyone "dear.":lol

For the benefit of newcomers...we also use some abbreviations to talk about favorite crocheting projects....Like FBB the fat bottomed bag.....BICO...the baby it's cold outside sweater.....RR round ripple afghans....MAM...a mile a minute afghan pattern....just to name a few.

That's a great acronym! There should be one for projects in garbage bags.
