It's really a great looking afghan, with so many interesting patterns in it, that I'd be willing to make another one for my house once I'm done. I'd wait about 6 months before starting it, but it looks really nice. My mother-in-law, who has been crocheting since she was a little girl, even said that she'd like to borrow the pattern from me once I'm done, because there are stitch combinations that she's never seen before and she'd like to try them!

Our living room is sage and cream...I'd need a contrast color in there, but the pink is NOT going to happen. What other colors go with sage and cream? I'd almost like to go with a red of some sort (like scarlet), but I'm afraid that it wouldn't look right.

I'm so excited that I finally made a decision:bounce

I went with TLC Essentials Butter, Light Thyme, and Aran. I can't wait to get started, but I have to finish a scarf first:D! for my sister. It is a fall-ish one with Red Heart Falling Leaves and copper Fun Fur, so I thought it would be an early Christmas gift before fall is over!

I am psyched to have my yarn even though I have a lot of other projects to work on around the house...a renovation that has been going on for over 2 years. Oh Well, I have to have something to work on at night when I am brain-dead! :P

I'm doing mine in a cream, sage and lavender. Well, I expect to be doing mine... lol. I'm stalled at 6 squares. I'm just learning to crochet and now that I've got the hang of it I find that I'm making fast little projects for the kids. Finished the first of three ponchos and have impressed myself so much I'm going right into the next. This afghan will be for me so I'm in no rush to complete it. Plus finding the right lavender was a bit time consuming but I've got it now. I've been peeking in on everyone's photo albums and they all look great!

I think I'll be giving mine for our family reunion next June . I always make an afghan to give as a door prize , so I think that's what I'll use mine for. Most people like blue, I think, so it'll be a color that they should like . This way. I'll also have a lot of time to get it done !

Yarny,

How about a color leaning towards a dark peach ? I agree with the other lady ( sorry I don't remember your name ) that said a red would make it look like Christmas colors .

Or how about a dark yellow type color ? It's hard to guess without seeing your yarn . I usually spend a lot of time in the yarn department -- holding up one color to the next one to see what would match the best ! The light orchid might be pretty too . I guess it's up to you which color you would like the best . What other colors do you have in your living room , like maybe on pillows or pictures, or floral type decorations ?

Will you be putting photos of your squares on a web page anywhere ? I'm interested in seeing the colors you picked. They sound so pretty. What shade of yellow is the butter, is it a bright or real light yellow ?

And also, I'd love to see the item you are making out of the falling leaves color. I don't think I've seen that color yet !

My living room is sage and cream. That's about it, besides the cherrywood end tables and all of that. Maybe I'll just do it in shades of two different colors of sage, like a light and a medium, with the cream? I'm using Red Heart for this first go around with the afghan, but I will probably switch to a softer yarn when I make it for the house.

By the way, my first name is Leigha. I probably should have posted that somewhere. :)

leigha (how cool of a name is that, shall we address you as "Your Highness" or will just leigha do? :danc ),

knowing now that your furniture accent is in cherry - i'm also going to suggest dk plum, and many other variations of purple for accents. that would look very nice.... the darker of a purple you go... the more wintery, same with the green, and then the opposite with lighter colors

(suddenly i've become a designer :P )

I am working on getting my pics together on a web page, but I am new to this board, so I have to figure out how to link to the page.

The yellow is a soft yellow, not baby yellow, but not bright.

OK, so I will try to link the pics.[link=http://groups.msn.com/MeschwitzFamily/allisonscrochetpage.msnw newwindow]groups.msn.com/MeschwitzFamily/allisonscrochetpage.msnw[/link]

These are a few of the things I've made in the last couple of years, still need to find the pic of the "Crochet Your Way" afghan.

Thanks for posting a link to your web page. I don't know how to do that yet either . Your afghan colors are going to be beautiful ,and so are the items you have photos of . I love that baby quilt afghan -- I bet that took a LOT of work !

Leigha

That is a beautiful name !

I think the dark plum might look nice too, I'd somehow try to add something close to the cherry wood color maybe since that is the other main color you have in your living room . I'm trying to think of another color that might come close to cherrywood... hmmmm.

That will take some more thought .

Yes, Leigha is unique...and I WAS named after a certain Star Wars character, although my mother obviously messed up on the spelling.

I think the purple idea is great, and I should have plenty of experience with it once I'm done with the current afghan that is being done in shades of plum. I'm putting all of this into my idea vault for when I start this one up again. :)

Jayme ~ Welcome back! :cheer2 Nothing wrong with changing your colors! :thumbsup

Knuckles ~ #6 (trinity) was a difficult one. Lots of folks have trouble with that. :yes And don't worry, it's okay to make a smaller ghan and not do all the squares. :rock

Beth and Julie ~ I have to do mine in order, too. Jump on 'em and tackle 'em one at a time. :P Hopefully, each square is cowering in fear, knowing it is the next one, by the time I get to it. :D!

firemanshunny ~ Yay for getting your book! :clap Your blue, light blue, and white will be great! :thumbsup

juliek and rebeccav ~ LOL, I've been in it since the beginning, and I've only finished 17! :ohdear

And juliek, that will be a very nice door prize! :))

Faith ~ Absolutely we have room! We'd love for you to join. :cloud9 I've added you to the list.

Alli ~ Your colors sound great! :cheer2 Thanks for the link to your photo album! :thumbsup

ZingyZoid ~ Your colors sound great, too! Don't worry, you don't need to be in a rush to finish. It's all about having fun, right? :))

Leigha ~ I like the idea of a light and medium sage with cream. Or purples would be good, too. :yes

Hey Donna -

Can you sign me up too? I saw this discusstion and I'm like Faith - I've had the book for years but never done anything with it. I got a beat up one at WalMart marked down for a buck and I couldn't resist. Since I'm trying to get back into crocheting I thought different squares would be a good one to have fun with.

Is there an end date everyone is shooting for?

Thanks!

I'm still waiting on my yarn to get here before I can get started =/ In the meantime, I have some Dark Plum yarn that I am going to use the stitch to make square #24 to make a blankie for my husband for the back of his computer chair. I hope it's as easy at it sounds from the directions and hopefully it will come out nice and comfy for him =)

I'm a frogging Virgo, too - so sign me up! I think I can squeeze in a square here and there right along with my Pillowghan.

Besides, I JUST DISCOVERED I HAVE THIS BOOK!

Now, to choose yarn - oh, what a tedious task that shall be

Absolutely, Jenn and Mitzi! I'm glad you guys are joining us! :clap I've added you both to the list.

I think some folks have a specific date they want to get it done by to give as a gift or for other reasons. But as far as the crochet-along is concerned, there isn't a deadline. :))

Barbara ~ I think #24 will make a great computer chair blankie! :thumbsup

I'm going out of town this weekend for a funeral and I wonder how many squares I can get done.

Also, does anybody know about taking aluminum hooks on airplanes?? Is that ok?

It's supposed to be okay, but it's best to call the airline. Take ones that you are willing to part with, just in case. Also, you can bring a padded envelope with postage already on it and addressed to yourself. That way, if the security person checking you through is disagreeable, you can drop the hooks in the envelope and I believe they will put it in the mail for you. Better safe than sorry.

I "think" you can take the aluminum ones to the court house, but not the metal thread ones, but I could be wrong. Maybe the friend used a plastic one there. All I know is that she couldn't work on her thread stuff the way she wanted to.
