Lapghan vs afghan?

I believe a lapghan is a type of afghan, but a narrow version that's just wide enough to go over the lap and feet.

Yeah, I think so. If I understand right, "lapghan" just evolved from "afghan" when making a wrap for the lower body in a sitting position. It's a cute phrase!

Gee - I use the term a lot and I guess I never knew the difference.

I just assumed that a lapghan was a lap blanket and an afghan was about twice the size of a lapghan.

I thought so. When I worked at the VA I made lapghans for the vets!! I miss my vets..................

Sure....or lap quilt or comfortghan. I think they should be called laughghans, cuz they make us smile

I believe (but can't prove) that lapghans developed with a need for small(er) afghans that would not interfere with the workings of a wheelchair.
