Mock, cowl or turtle neck poncho pattern needed

MsSunflwr

Question

A friend of mine showed me a photo is a magazine of a cream colored poncho, it had a cowl neck and came to a point in front and back. It looked pretty simple. I have been searching for a pattern so I can make her one for Christmas, but I am not coming up with what I need. :bang I don't want it to be the granny square style poncho if possible, but I'm sure I can change the stitch up if I need to. I'm not a begginer, but reading patterns can sometimes be a little daunting for me. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Nina Kate

Hi Nina~

In the first couple of pages of the newest issue of Crochet! there was an ad for a new Bernat leaflet called "Urban Flair." I don't see it on their website yet, and I did a search and can't find it anywhere:shrug . But on the front of this leaflet there is a poncho that matches what you want perfectly! It comes to a point in the front and back and has a turtleneck collar. It is really nice! Definitely caught my eye:)h , though I don't know where to buy the leaflet:shrug .

Follow the link in Klutzbynature's post, Hooded Poncho, a little further down the page. Make it a solid color and close the front and back seems. If you make a few rows less, the hood will be a nice full cowl. Closing the seams in front and back gives you the point you want.

If you have a copy of the very first Crochet!, there is a pattern for a sleeveless, cowl neck sweater. You can use any poncho pattern you like and then just add the cowl neck later.

Thanks, the urban flair poncho seems perfect. I will have to order the pattern soon, Christmas is creeping up on us and I have about 7 ponchos to make for gifts. Luckily 5 of them are for children and will not be as time consuming as an adult sized one.
