Help! A little input please...

Recommended Posts

Okay, I have decided to make this poncho for a good friend's daughter. We really connected and she's like a little sister almost (she's 10). I have absolutely no idea what yarn to use. Her favorite color is purple, and she likes blues too. She's very much the tomboy, but very fashion conscious too... lol.

Part of the problem is that her little brother is allergic to almost everything you can think of, and has pretty bad asthma. So on top of everything else, I'm trying to find yarn that I won't have to worry about bothering him. And I'm not about to use yarn that has to be hand washed for a 10 year old!

Anybody have any ideas? I've looked around Herrschners, Mary Maxim, and KnitPicks, but I'm still lost.

I am allergic to wools, but can work with cottons and acrylics. I can use Caron Simply Soft and it doesn't make my hands itch and swell. It comes in nice colors and is really soft (although you probably know this already)! :)

I would try either the straight cottons or acrylics, or the cotton/acrylic blends. Hopefully more experienced ladies on the board will be able to help! Good luck!

Take care.

kind of thinking about Cottontots in Grape Berry or Lilac... or Bernat Satin in Stardust and Sultana... or... or... <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/scratchchin.gif" />

Well, I had a feeling this would happen... my Bernat Sox came in the mail (purple and aqua) and all plans for the baby sweater they were meant for went down the drain, as they clammered to become a poncho.

So, here it is. It feels like it's taking forever... I'm hoping I have enough yarn, because all plans of needing it finished by this summer are scrapped, they're coming to visit on THURSDAY! eek!
