Let me just tell you I LOVE this mitten pattern. It is awesome--I made two pair in two evenings. Later on, I added about 4 inches of crochet in the round around the open edge of my toddler son's mittens so they'd stay tucked WAY into his coat (and he couldn't yank them off, lol). They looked like gauntlets but it worked like a charm. All my little kid mittens will have an extra 3-4" at the opening now.

I have made a bunch of these mittens as my little one's want a pair in each coat or jacket they own :)

For my youngest one, I made them a little wider than the pattern called for and did not add the thumb...and presto :clap ..thumbless mittens my one year old could put on and take of himself (just like the big kids :)

This is a great pattern- my kids love them :clap:clap:clap:clap:manyheart

Oh...I forgot to add... I added on a decorative edging (scallops, etc) in a contrasting color for my daughter's mittens. She also loved it when I made little embelishments (like flowers or hearts) to add on to the tops :manyheart
