DMC #10 thread "fan stitch top"

Hi all, new here I just started working with thread about a week ago for the first time, after crocheting for over 20 years, and I LOVE IT! This is my first project and it's coming along nicely. Has anyone made this?

it's also at the dmc website, in .pdf format. I am using Caron's Grandma's Best in substitution for the dmc thread, as they are so similar in properties. Curious to know if anyone else has made it. The pattern calls for either leather or suede cords in the arms and the neck, and I plan to try and find some nice ribbon or substitute something else. Any suggestions?

That's a very pretty top. Perhaps you could use a twisted cord made from a "suede" or chenille knitting yarn.

I think your idea of a nice looking ribbon is a good one. Ribbon would make it more feminine looking. I looked at the pic on Michael's. Seems like the pattern is too lacy for leather, IMHO!!

I have also seen that pattern last year and have saved that hoping to be able to find the courage to try a wearable someday....lol! I would love to see your version once it's finished. :-))))))
