Ripple or Chevron?

Can someone tell me the difference between a ripple afghan and a chevron afghan? I just don't see it. Yes, I'm a newbie still but............

Ripple is what they call it in crochet and chevron is what they call it in Quilting,i really dont know why they call it 2 different things,heres a link with a quilt block called chevron.

I've seen crochet patterns called either ripple or chevron. As far as I can tell there's no difference.

well if you look closely usually a ripple is a half double or double crochet and it doesnt make sharp corners, when you do the ripple in a single crochet it makes for pretty nice points to the ripples rather than a gradual ripple

I think the two terms are pretty much interchangeable, just my opinion, anyway.

I generally think of Chevron & Ripple as one and the same.

Chevron is generally done in stripes ripple can be all one colour.

I think that somewhere along the line, someone thought the pattern looked like a ripple so called the Chevron a Ripple.

Remember the quote, "A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet."

So a " Chevron by any other name would still look as good.":cheer
