Hi,

I just recently began crocheting - a few weeks before Christmas. I have finished a scarf (which turned out slightly lopsided) and a baby blanket (turned out beautifully) and am officially addicted to crocheting. I have two large tupperware tubs full of yarn, one to four of every size crochet hook, including filet sizes, a dozen pattern books and spend at least an hour a day surfing the web and printing out patterns. I just can't stop myself! I currently working on two baby blankets for pregnant coworkers. They're going to be so pretty!

So hello to all you fellow crocheters!

Leslie

Hey there, Blisskitty,

I'm in Birmingham, too. I live in Southside. So are you new to crocheting as well?

I live in the Highland parks area. My story is about the same - I had a crochet hook as a child and I could chain. I didn't know anything at all about crochet but I "went back through the chain" to make little triangles that I didn't do much with. Thinking back now, I think I was doing either a slip stitch or single crochet. Have you been to any good stores around here to get yarn? Looking online yesterday I discovered two stores - one called Knit Nouveau in Helena and another Memory Hagler Knitting on Chestnut Street in ... it's either in Homewood or Vestavia, off 31 and Kentucky Ave. I'm dying to go to either one, but it's probably not going to be healthy for my budget... I've already got so much yarn, and mostly normal types of yarn... I'm really itching to get some novelty yarns, like eyelash and fun fur. The Memory Hagler place doesn't seem to be open much, I called there and I think the message said their hours were only until noon. I wonder if Knit Nouveau will be open Monday... I'm off and that would be a great time to check it out.
