Hairpin Crochet

The local spotlight often has tables of reduced stuuf on it and today I found some hairpin thingamebobs for 50c.

 

Now I have never done hairpin so I just followed the instructions on the back of the packet. Is there a hairpin expert out there as I have no idea what I am doing.

Here's another tutorial. I have to say I tried it once (many moons ago) and didn't have the patience to make it work. I might try again, there are some pretty (mostly vintage) patterns in yarn and thread out there.

I have also tried it, and there is a secret. before to take it off the U clamp thing, put a piece of yarn through each side to keep them straight, else when you take them off they twist and everything gets knotted up. I leave the yarn in place till I connect to the other piece of lace I have made.

Thank you for the great links. Having had a few goes at it, I can see why it never really caught on! All these loops and not a lot of substance.

There is a hairpin lace yahoo group with some patterns and help available.

It's just called "hairpinlace" in the groups section.
