Weave Crocheting?

I saw a book of afghans and wanted to try it, I think that's what the book said, when I went back it was gone. Has anyone heard of it or done it?

I've seen some patterns for woven things...I think Crochet Inspiration by Sasha Kagan was where I saw a scarf made this way. Basically you crochet a mesh and then weave yarn strands through it--very simple. I don't recall seeing a book of afghans made this way so I'm no help with the title of the book you saw.

It's called Swedish Weaving and Huck Embroidery though more commonly called Swedish Weaving and it can be done on Monks Cloth or on Afghan Weaving Mesh which is stiffer than Monks Cloth

Do a search for "plaid" and "tartan" on Crochetpatterncentral.com and you will find some woven crochet afghans and placemats. As Kathy said, you crochet a mesh (does not require a special cloth) and weave thread through the mesh.
