I just got my yarn winder in the mail. Why oh why do I have to go back to work finally tomorrow? LOL

 

And I thought yarn was addictive...

teee heeee. Yup, winding yarn is sometimes just as fun. My kids LOVE to be my yarn winders and I sometimes get jealous of them.

I finally quit for the night... 56 yarn cakes after I started. I even redid a few of them lol. And that was just the yarn that was partially used or distinctive enough that I didn't need labels! How do y'all keep track of what your cakes of yarn are?I bet I end up with a sore arm tomorrow... both Dad and the cat were FASCINATED watching lol.

Look how the seller here tags her cakes. I've also seen them for sale with computer printed ball bands wrapped around them, I thought that idea was nifty too.

I had the idea of making tubes on the sewing machine out of tulle slightly smaller around than the yarn cake and then you could put multiple ones in the tube with the tag and it would keep it all together. Haven't tried this yet, but am thinking it would work.

 

Haven't priced tulle, but I am pretty sure it is inexpensive for the amount you would need.
