Michaels Skirt pattern

I want to do this skirt pattern recently posted at Michael's.

The problem is, in the materials, they only list one size hook. Under the directions, though, they say, "with larger hook, chain 111..."

Whaaa? What larger hook? Am I just missing something here? I guess I could go through lots of hooks and make gauge swatches, but I'd really rather not.

I would just go up a size in hook. They are just wanting you to use a larger hook for the chain so its not so tight. So try the H hook..

It only lists one hook and even though it says with larger hook it never says to change back to the smaller one. So maybe they are just wanting you to use a larger one for the chain.

i'm with christine and cathey - if the pattern calls for a G, make the beginning chain with an H and then switch to the G on row 1

Yes, that's exactly what they mean... only use the larger hook for the chain.

I agree, but what inconcise instructions. They need to be a little clearer, don't you think? It makes sense because I have chained with a larger size hook before, but those patterns specified when you change back to the smaller hook.
