Needles

Is there a difference between a yarn needle and a tapestry needle or is it the same thing with a different name?

I use the plastic one that came with my pom-pom ( ) making kit. :hee

i use tapestry needles when i have done something in light&lofty or homespun ----- yarns that tend to fuzz.... i think my sewing in goes smoother with a bit of a point for these particular yarns.

 

and then the plastic cheapies for everything else !

I use the metal tapestry needles with the large eye for everything. I have never tried the plastic ones, I'm afraid that it will not work through my yarn as well as the metal ones with a good point on the end.

I have several of the plastic ones, and I have broken several too (which is why hubby picks up a package everytime he goes near the craft shop lmao) but recently I found a metal one hiding inside a ball of yarn I got from someone on ebay and I LOVE it. The eye is smaller so I can't use it with bigger yarns, but I can squeeze WW yarn and eyelash and baby yarns through it just fine. I'm going to have to look for more of them, but there aren't any in the yarn corner of the craft shop.... would they be with some other section?

You might try with the cross-stitch and plastic canvas stuff, I got my metal ones right above the hooks at walmart !

I went looking for plastic canvas for one of my patterns that called for it, when I asked not one of the women had the vaugest idea what it was.

 

They need to call the dang place a quilting/knitting shop cuz that's what they all do and that's mostly what they sell. :mad
