Want to make a blanket (not ghan) with WW cotton.

boo1

Question

Want a stitch that is tight enough to be warm but not one that will take forever to complete and use miles of yarn.

Suggestions?

(I do have The Crochet Stitch Bible if that helps. I also like relief stitches too)

I am in the middle of making a balnket out of beautiful cotton, too! I chose to use a very simple combination of stitches:

1 hdc, 1slip. The cotton really shows off this stitch combo well, and makes a light, but warm blanket. I guess I should tell you that you need to ch 2 when turning and begin each row with the hdc. Try it - it is really different and simple. Works up quickly but looks super! Good luck!

Do you make up your own projects, too? I like to learn new stitches and make use of them in my own creations.

I think a ghan is more open weave and is used more like a throw or something to cuddle with. A blanket goes on your bed for warmth and would be tighter woven. Just my thought!! :)

here is a thermal stitch that can be used for a blanket. It is a baby blanket here.
