have not been crocheting long, but it looks like you start on the bottom tip and build up. it will get wider as you go because you are adding stitches to each row.

not sure if i am right, but that is how it looks to me.

Yup, you start at the bottom, and keep increasing on each row. I haven't done that one, but I have done others like it. :)

I agree with Kat & Sue. Starts out as 1 circle, then Row 2 would be 2, Row 3 would be 4, Row 4 would be 8, etc. Eventually you will have a triangle scarf/shawl. I just did basically the same pattern but for the Lion Brand Suede Shawl. It is almost identical. I ended up with 60 rows and it was a triangle in the end. Hope this helps. :knit

I should also note that the beginning circle and following 'circles' soon begin to look like squares or boxes...once you start seeing the transformation from circles to boxes, then you'll also see how the shape is forming into a triangle. It shouldn't take more than a couple of rows to see this transformation. :knit
