Great tips and a great blog. I agree about not weaving in ends until you make sure the garment fits. It is nearly impossible to find those ends after you weave them in.

Thanks, Kim. I'm new to garment construction, and I found your tips very helpful, especially those about using the mattress stitch. I can duplicate pretty much any stitch or pattern, but the finishing has always stopped me cold.

Thank you to everyone! As I think of more tips, I will add them to the post. These were things off the top of my head with all the garments I've been doing recently.

 

The tip about making a swatch and measuring off against the finished project is a good one for afghans as well. Sometimes, I get floppy or puckered edges along afghans when I work along the sides. :hook
