Borders to join squares?

Recommended Posts

I have just now been looking for the same information. About.com shows a few methods here http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa010999.htm

I am thinking of joing my granny squares with a chain stitch as shown there, but I am not sure how the corners will work...guess I will try it and see what I can work out.

I also found this "flat braid" by Priscilla Hewitt http://hometown.aol.com/lffunt/flatbraid.htm It is very pretty.

I will be very interested to see what suggestions people have.

The flat braid method is extremely pretty! I am definitely going to try that the next time I do something that involves stitching motifs together! Thanks for posting that link! :manyheart

I use the Crochet Dude's "Dudeassembly" method and it's quick and easy! It's a free pattern avail on his blog. The only difference between his pattern and what I do is that instead of "dropping the hook and inserting it on the other side of a CH space to join" is that I do not drop the hook but join anyway and it looks lovely. (Does that make sense?) I HATE patterns where I have to drop the hook. It takes way too much time and sometimes I feel it isn't necessary. That's the ONLY reason I don't use the flat braid method. All that dropping and picking up your hook takes forever and it doesn't look the same if you don't drop the hook. With Dudeassembly it still looks great!!!!

Wow, I love the flat braid. I have a baby blanket to make and I hate joining motifs. I am going to try this flat braid with it. It seems pretty easy and looks very nice. Thanks for the link.
