yarn storage

Hey all -

I got a popcorn canister so christmas and well I ate all the popcorn and was thinking I could use it for storing some of my scraps. I have washed it out like 4 times with soap and can't get hte popcorn smell out. I am worried if i put my yarn in there the yarn will smell like popcorn. Any suggestions???

Try a citrus based cleaner like Orange clean - you probably still have some oil residue from the popcorn in there. The orange clean should take care of it and leave a nice citrus smell (which will fade)

Have you tried leaving it without the cover for a few days....

 

or maybe with the cover and a dryer sheet inside...

Wash it with some baking soda and water combo. It takes the smell and is an excellent cleaner.

After I wash them I put 2 fabric softener sheets in it, then close it up. In a little time the smell of popcorn is gone.

this is the trick my mom uses to get the smell out of something that is clean but still has a smell put a few drops of REALLY strong vanilla in the can pour in about a cup of boiling water and swish it all over and let it cool it should smell much better after. i do it in my microwave every time i clean it works like a charm!

yup i love the smell of popcorn too leave it as it is and just wash items when you finish them hehehe xxx
