Question

Hello ladies! As you know I have been working on this Heart filet afghan in Honor of my father and Heart Disease..well it's sooo close to being finished I can taste it! :artist

But, I need your creative opinions on my next "big" project. My aunt lost her battle with stomach cancer this morning. Being in Germany and preparing for a move, we are unable to travel home to honor her. So, my question is do anyone of you have an afghan "pattern" or "idea" for me to use in memory of her? She has three children and I would like to make one for them. I'm overwhelmed and I don't deal with grief well, especially being overseas. So...I'm going to crochet it all out! She was a wonderful woman, she was a hair stylist and loved anything "flashy". I have some ideas..but you ladies are all so creative I wanted to ask you as well.

Thank you in advance!

Donna

Oh Donna, I am so sorry to hear your news. :hug I think anything you could do for her children would be much appreciated. Something in her favorite colors perhaps?

Thanks everyone. We are handling it okay, I mean we knew it was coming. She had her last surgery about 5 days ago and the doctor sent her home saying it would be a miracle if she lasted a week. When I woke up yesterday, I just knew for some reason. She died at the same age as her mother died, and from the same horrible disease. She's in a much better place and her children are relieved she isn't in anymore pain.:)h

Thank you for your suggestions on the Rainbow Waves afghan and of course to follow my heart. She was very flashy and loved big jewerly, anything that stood out! I'm probably going to sketch out some things over the next few weeks, since I don't have any yarn until we get to California.

I just had to ask you ladies for opinions, ya'll are each so creative!

Thanks, Donna

Donna,

So sorry to hear about your aunt. I have a few patterns that I thought you might want to consider - here are the pics...

If you like any of those, I'd be happy to e-mail the patterns to you.

Hi Leslie,

E-mailing the patterns, unless they are your original patterns, would be a copyright violation, but please post where we could find the patterns, either in a book or a link because they are beautiful. <img border=0 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/rowofhearts.gif" />

Sorry about that... I'm new to posting and wasn't sure about what you can and can't post. Here are the sites for two of the patterns

<a href="http://www.e-patternscentral.com/product_list.html?criteria=pastel+baby+throw&x=0&y=0&cat_id=&brand_id=" target="_new">Pastel Baby throw</a>

You could add a few more strips to make a full size.

<a href="http://www.e-patternscentral.com/product_list.html?criteria=spring+petals&x=0&y=0&cat_id=&brand_id=" target="_new">Spring Petals Afghan</a>

I thought a couple of other patterns from a book might be good too - it's called Absolutely Gorgeous Pineapple Afghans, Book Eleven by Leisure Arts. I liked design 3. Impeccable, and 6. Enchanting.

i think you should just go wild.. if she was flashy etc.. then just start an afghn using all the wild yarns you can find.. grab a million different colours and go to town.. with fun fur .. cha cha.. divine .. tiki..brilliant.. chenille.. etc.. whatever strikes you and has texture.. maybe even a ripple like that..just start a skein and work til you run out then start another.. would definately be different and flashy
