I assume you are looking for a pattern, there are a lot of vintage thread patterns for antimacassar sets that include arm rests covers.

I've made a couple of thread antimacassars, but not arm rests covers; I'd think thread arm rests would 'stay put' better than a thicker yarn one, thread is obviously thinner but much denser per measure of thickness than yarn.

Most of these patterns are lacy and use fine weight doily cotton, but here is one that is solid , this particular pattern is unavailable but as you can see it is a plain solid stich, you can probably make a rectangle in thread  in DC or HDC, maybe add an edging.  You can find mercerized cotton thicker than 'doily size' 10, size 5 is probably roughly sport weight size 3 roughly DK (just looked, Aunt Lydia's size 3 is rated US 3 weight, which is DK - the "3" is just a coincidence, because thread and yarns are sized at a different scale-  size 5 thread is smaller, than size 3 thread, but size 5 yarn is bulky)
