Welcome to the 'ville!  I'm better at 'how to do this?" than "what's that stitch", so hopefully someone else will come along with something helpful.

In the meantime, the border on the right side of the photo, the bright white row is a row/round of US DC, and farther to the right is a shell stitch (maybe 7 DC? which would be: 7 DC in 1 stitch, skip 3 sts,, sc in the next stitch, skip 3, repeat) Both the whiter DCs and the shell are shown with their back sides facing.  I am going to assume that the body edging was made 1 side facing so will look different from the side not photographed, but I'm assuming the blanket was made back and forth (turning each row), therefore should look the same front and back.

The body reminds me of the stitch I learned as 'up down' stitch (it has other names which I can never remember, a lot of stitches have multiple names), which was alternating sc and dc, but I don't think that is it.

You or friend might try looking at newstitchaday.com; go to the stitionary tab and then crochet stitches and you'll see categories of stitches, something might look close if not matching.

Well I didn't know that either and I've been to that site a gazillion times. Thanks Brenda!
