dc inc help

Atiel

Question

Hello everybody,

I just started my long Journey with crocheting, and I am already stuck :(

I started with a Magic Ring and an inc to 12. Next instructions are:

R3: (dc, inc) x 6 (18)
R4: (dc 2, inc) x 6 (24

I think R3 means I have to dc in all and inc in every second?

Like: 1dc, 2+3dc, 4dc, 5+6dc... Like this I will have 18 loops at und end?

But what does R4 mean?🙈

(Sorry for my bad english and thank you )

Row 3  dc in first stitch and increase in next around.    dc, 2dc, dc, 2dc  Your increasing by 6.

row 4  dc,dc,2dc.  or dc in first 2 sts and increase in 3rd stitch or next-around.

row 5 will be (dc3,inc)  dc in first 3 sts and increase in next....around.

Hi and welcome to the 'ville.  NCcountrygal spelled it out, but just in case r3, r4 is not an instruction it's just a lazy way to say 'round 3', etc.  Sometimes you may see it as rnd 3, or possibly r3 meaning row 3 .

This is the usual "recipe" to make a flat circle, where you start with x stitches, and increase by x stitches on every round; the way that you do this is:

first round is x

second round is increase in every stitch (so now you have x+x

third round is *1 stitch in the next 1 stitch, 2 stitches in the next (so you increased the total # of stitches by x)

fourthth round is * 1 stitch in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 stitches in the next (so you have increased the total # of stitches by x again)

and continue this way, each following round adds 1 more to the number of stitches between increases.
